As Bonnie stated this aircraft uses the callsign "Lifesaver 5" when on airband or surf lifesaving channels.
Uses Delta 515 when on QPS channels.

Others around the Southeast are -

Rescue 500 - EMQ Archerfield
Rescue 511 - AGL Rescue Maroochydore
Rescue 512 - AGL Rescue Bundaberg
Careflight 230 - Toowoomba
Careflight 599 - Gold Coast (May have changed recently??)
Lifesaver 2 / 4 - Westpac Lifesaver (Lismore - NSW)

Mitch, that'll be Nerang Broadbeach Road, next to Carrara Stadium.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The other day I drove past there and for the first time I can remember, they had TWO choppers in the hanger.... It was mainly yellow but I'm not sure on anything further... Maybe Careflight was up for lunch or somerthing? I'll try and get a better look at the markings next time.

They've always had two choppers in. And yes you're right, my mistake on the address.

Yes, there are usually 2 aircraft there. The first is the one Stretch pictured (registration VH-ELR, AS350 "Squirrel" type helicopter), which has been there for numerous years. The aircraft is a single engine type and has been used up until now as Surf Lifesaving's primary helicopter asset, additionally providing assistance to other agencies when requested such as QPS,AMSA and SES.

The second is a newer addition (registration VH-NVG, EC135 type) . The aircraft is a twin engined type, ex-EMQ which was handed over to Surf Lifesaving by the QLD Government when they upgraded their EMQ helicopters across the state. It is expected to become operational shortly enhancing the organisations capabilities, with more modern technology, and of course twin engined safety. 8)

Cheers,

Thats correct. One is used as a spare/backup to provide availability when the primary one (Agusta AW139 type - the larger one) is offline for maintenance. The spare is EMQ's old primary aircraft (Bell 412 type).
